The old girl's engine gave out at 149,000, and too many Illinois winters
took their toll on the underbody. We lost the gas tank on one trip! She
sat by my home for about 7 months before my then-employer purchased it.
He had the mechanics and interior removed, and HUNG it inside of a
garage themed pizza parlor in Fox Valley, Illinois. Despite my advice,
the building was re-enforced to carry the weight of the car, and at
great expense was hung with the underside facing down, revealing 30+
years of rust. The boss was not happy with the rusty appearance, so he
had the car taken down. He sold it to a scrap yard where it languished for
years, yielding some trim parts for other cars before being crushed in
'98. I'm glad the ol' gal and I had some fun before her time came.

Notes:
Purchased from Mike Stephens in January 1981, sold in Dec 1985. Car was originally
purchased from Devoe Edsel in Muncie Indiana. Original owners unknown. Found
previous owner in 1984. Lady received the car in 1970 in her divorce
settlement. Her husband had to provide her with transportation, so he found this
army green Edsel on a used car backlot in Gary, Indiana. Having driven it for 16
years, she sold it to an unknown party who sold it to Mike Stephens. I purchased it,
put a 2-tone paint job on it, a set of WWW, and drove it daily for 4 years. Took it
to the IEC meet in Champagne with buddy George Foran.
