Notes:
This car was in storage since 1973 in an airport hangar. The bias tires were
too shot from sitting to use now. As I understand not many Rangers w/3spd
manuals had the overdrive like mine has. Car was cleaner than I expected. I
pulled the plugs and turned over the motor by hand. Needs a battery and some
minor rewiring. Body and interior are in real good shape. No dents or
scratches, but one small spot of rust on L/R wheel well.
After looking into the motor, I found some burnt wiring and traced the damage all
the way from the voltage regulator to the generator, relay switch, coil and
distributor. Ended up pulling the radiator and water pump. Wasn't a
pretty sight.
Still doesn't matter, I love this car now too much to think otherwise of it.
This is the kid speaking, the car runs and drives like a dream. Ive spent over half my
life with this car, I was about 6 years old when we got it, now I just turned 20. She sat
in our garage for a few years when we couldn't really do much with it, once we moved out here
(to Helena, from Presho, SD), things really got into gear though. The generator went out
in her so we had to replace that, but outside of that and getting a proper Edsel gauge cluster
into her (She had a Ford one for some reason, probably was put in by the previous owners, but
that has been rectified). The rear springs are worn but hold up pretty well. The
carb is still running off the rebuild dad did back when we first got her, and she's about as
pleasant as can be, no troubles or fuss starting her up. Not much else to say about her,
she's a gem.
