361cid E-400 V8, Teletouch automatic transmission, 2.91:1 axle ratio
Edsel number
732830 manufactured in Louisville, KY on August 21, 1958
Owner:
Karl Starr
Records included with the car indicate that it was purchased by a couple
in Powers Lake, ND. I believe the closest Edsel dealer to Powers Lake
would have been in Minot, so I assume the car was purchased there. The
original owner had the car for 33 years. After his (apparent) death,
the car was taken to Minneasota, where it had three different owners in
the following decade.
The best things about the car are that the body is in quite good
condition, with no dents, and only a very small amount of rust. All
chrome and other trim pieces are present and most are in very good
condition. The car is driveable, but the engine runs rough, and needs
quite a bit of work. The teletouch transmission has been bypassed with
a jerry-rigged floor shift. Upholstery is in poor condition and will
need to be replaced.

Notes:
This car now sports greenish-gold metallic paint with white roof and scallop.
We will keep the car garaged for now, until we can afford to have it
professionally restored. This was not an impulsive purchase: I've
wanted to own an Edsel since I was three years old, and I've had my eye
on this particular vehicle for the past 3 years. We only made the
decision to purchase it after we felt we could realistically make the
commitment to get the car fully restored within the next 2 years.
