361cid E-400 V8, Teletouch automatic transmission, 2.91:1 axle ratio
Edsel number
717735 manufactured in Louisville, KY on September 24, 1957
Owner:
Gary and Rosemary Gilmore
Bought from Alvin Mirll in Brownfield, TX. We drove this car back home to
Dearborn, MI over two days, partially on old Route 66 (Including the old 9' wide alignment
near Afton, OK). The second day was Tulsa to Dearborn, non-stop, averaging
70mph! Not bad for a 45yr old car.
Location:
Dearborn, Michigan
Owned since:
September 26, 2003
Mileage:
80,000
Condition:
Very good
Originality:
Seats recovered, new paint. Frame-off restored 8 years ago.
Accessories included:
Wheel Covers with Spinner, Clock, Compass, Standard Radio, (Originally had A/C,
but was removed at some point), Teletouch Automatic Transmission, Dial-Temp
Heater, dual Hooded Mirrors (I think this car had the "Better Sight"
package, as it's also got a glove box light).
Notes:
The car resides 3/4 mile from the location of The Rotunda, where Edsel was unveiled!
The color is now white with turquoise scallops and roof. We've named him "Eddie", and
he resides happily next to our 1953 Cadillac Series 62 Sedan (which just happens to be the
same colors, only in reverse and can be seen at www.vector11.com/caddie).
