Sorry, but you can't call them "junk yards" if there's an Edsel in there.

Crusher-bound! By Northeastern standards, this is a pretty decent Edsel. It's been in this Salt Lake City junkyard for at least 15 years, but more likely around 35 or 40!
David Fleisher reports that it's slated for crushing if it isn't sold fairly soon. Imagine how nice it would look driving down the street. The tri-tone coral Pacer hardtop is one of the prettiest Edsels ever built.
A week before Thanksgiving, David discovered a '59 Ranger with dog dish hubcaps sitting beside a garage behind a very old house in an old section of Salt Lake City. It has been sitting for over 30 years but is all intact, even the horn ring in the steering wheel.
Another view of the Ranger. It has a 292 with standard shift. It was an Idaho car that was inherited by the owner's niece in Salt Lake City over 30 years ago and was never driven or registered in Utah.
Here's a picture of a Spruce Green & Ice Green '58 Villager that was recently rescued after being abandoned in a muddy ditch on an old farm for over 30 years, Brigham City, Utah.
This is a turquoise Pacer four-door hardtop that David owned from 1980-1981. It has the original dealer sticker on the decklidRattermann Edsel - Western Hills, Ohio. The car was originally owned by the dealer's wife and she drove it until 1960. This car has spinners but no backup lights.
Today the car is owned by Mike Stephens of Akron, Indiana. David signed his e-mail "deeply depressed Dave" when he sent this image. The years have not been kind to his old car.
Virtually EVERY Edsel was beautiful at some point, including this one. It is indeed sad to see the effects of time on such a neat car.
This shot was taken in the late '60s or early '70s. On the back of the photo it reads: "All these cars are low mileage: '58 - 21,000 miles, '59 - 17,000 miles, '60 - 14,000 miles"
A light green '60 Ranger two-door sedan in a junkyard in rural southwest Ohio, as found in 1980. It had been in the yard since it was a fairly new car.
Same car, different angle.
A dilapidated and rusty Villager still being driven as of 1975. It was gold with a green interior. Taken in Reading, Ohio in 1975.
An all-black Corsair hardtop that was heavily damaged when a tree fell on it during the Great Tornado of 1969 in Cincinnati. Front fender, drivers door, left windshield post, original spotlight mirrorall destroyed. Photo taken in 1975.

A two tone, ice green and dark green Villager that was broadsided very hard when the car was almost new. It still wears the original wide white wall tires. Photo taken at junkyard in 1978 in Miamitown, Ohio
This Redwood '59 Ranger sedan was frequently seen on the streets of Cincinnati throughout the 1970s. It was used as a regular family car and was always filled to the max with people.
A '59 Ranger sedan in a Hamiliton, Ohio junkyard.
From the rear. You can see that the car was originally blue and then painted white.
This white & black Ranger had a fender bender. The cost of repair exceeded the value of the car, so it ended up in the junk yard in Butler County, Ohio, 1977.
This black Ranger was abandoned for many years on Queen City Ave., a slum district of Cincinnati. It sat in plain view on a heavily traveled road. Photo taken in 1976.

The engine was seized and the floors were rusted, but the car only had 36,000 miles on it and it was loaded! The owner estimated it would cost over $2,000 to restore so he stripped some parts and JUNKED it.

A rough and non-running yellow and grey metallic Ranger hardtop being offered for $375 in Moscow, Ohio, 1978. Note makeshift taillights. Believe it or not, $375 was considered too much money for the car at the time! Neat color combo, though!
David sent these images entitled "Sad Corsair". Look how kind the desert has been to the sheet metal on this car.
Doesn't look THAT sad...
Look at the RARE backup light deletes!

Although he retired the car in 1969, it received new paint and tires and was placed in storage. Note the double stripe whitewalls, which were popular in 1969-1971. These tires indicate the time the car was restored and put to storage.
Here's a black & white Ranger sedan northern Utah, 1991. It had a standard shift and had been hit really hard on the passenger side quarter panel.
This is a Royal Blue Pacer hardtop Dave I found in Layton, Utah in 1991. This color is original, but it wouldn't be Royal Blue for much longer as the next picture will show...
